Kingsley Capital Partners (‘Kingsley’), the London-based private equity firm, today announces that it has closed a £250m financing round into Atlas Towers Group, the independent UK provider, owner and operator of wireless infrastructure.

Atlas was founded in 2018 by Kingsley, alongside family office investors and institutions, in order to support the delivery of 5G wireless infrastructure to businesses and consumers throughout the UK.  This latest round of financing will enable Atlas to accelerate its growth strategy of delivering major wireless network investment across new build sites, and upgrade existing sites to increase network capacity.

5G technology is poised to bring transformational benefits to millions of UK consumers and businesses. It will significantly increase network speed and connection density, meaning more connected devices benefiting from unparalleled wireless real-time results. It will also enable the development of new and innovative applications, such as autonomous driving where the UK is a world leader. CTIA, the Wireless Association, estimates that 5G will generate $500 billion in economic growth and will help create up to 3 million new jobs. As a result of this latest financing round, Atlas is exceptionally well positioned to deliver on this growth potential and generate long-term value.

Neil Mahapatra, Managing Partner of Kingsley, said: “Atlas is an exciting business in a fast growth sector. Demand for 5G network access is only increasing and the range of solutions Atlas is able to offer means we are very excited about this investment and the important role it can play in transforming the UK economy.”

Russell Jefferies, Chief Executive Officer of Atlas, said: “KCP’s expertise has been instrumental in the inception and development of Atlas, helping us lay the foundations of a strong and sustainable business. This latest round of funding means we are now very well positioned to move forward with our strategic growth plans and deliver real and lasting benefits for consumers across the UK”.

As a consequence of this process, Kingsley has diluted its stake to a significant minority share. It will continue to provide strategic guidance and operational support to Atlas and its management team.
